Kindle Daily Deal and Black Friday

This is a little bit off-topic, but I do receive questions about the Kindle Daily Deal and other special offers at Amazon so I am going to summarize it all in one post.

Kindle Daily Deal

Each day, Amazon takes one book that is picked by their editorial (and probably marketing) teams to significantly discount the price of the Kindle version of the book for a 24 hour period.  I’ve picked up some that were discounted down to 99 cents – $1.99 from anywhere as high as $9.99; some of them looked interesting and some of them were things I wouldn’t pick up if they were free.  That’s probably the same thing you would think, as we all have different tastes.

I don’t know what is going to be on each Daily Deal – you have to hit the site each day to check it out for yourself.  Once each day’s deal has passed, it reverts back to its regular price.

Today’s deal is  The Magician’s Elephant by Kate DiCamillo and Yoko Tanaka at 99 cents (regularly $6.99), which has received an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars based on 94 customer reviews.  You can check it out by hitting the http://amzn.to/kddeal link.

Amazon’s Black Friday Deals

Black Friday is traditionally the Friday after Thanksgiving: Amazon started early and has a series of Black Friday deals changing every few hours from now until December 23rd.  They do give you a little bit of an advance of what is about to go on sale, but there are a few catches: the deals only last for a few hours and are limited to stock on hand.  I see later this morning a digital camera, electric guitar, and drum set will be available.

Here’s a link to save so you can check these deals out: http://amzn.to/amazonbfriday

I’m hitting that link several times a day!

Don’t spend too much!
